Francisco González Ledesma began working as a lawyer and became editor-in-chief of La Vanguardia. He received the Premio Planeta in 1984 for Crónica sentimental en rojo. The crime series featuring Méndez also includes El pecado o algo parecido and Cinco mujeres y media (French critics’ Prix Mystère). He was awarded the Premio Pepe Carvalho 2005 in recognition of his work as a crime writer.
